We’re supporting incumbents Matt Benjamin, Lauren Folkerts, Nicole Speer, and Mark Wallach for Boulder City Council.

Better Boulder works to create sustainable, walkable neighborhoods and to champion well-designed infill and redevelopment that reduces our climate impact and supports biking, walking, and transit. We believe these incumbents are the best choices to advance these values and to keep Boulder welcoming, healthy, and economically strong.

Following a thorough review of candidate questionnaires and in-person interviews, our Board of Directors selected the candidates who most closely align with our mission and bring strong, critical thinking on key community issues.

Our Endorsements:

Matt Benjamin has been a leader on transportation and land use during his time on council. He has repeatedly shown creative problem-solving skills that help to drive consensus amongst his Council colleagues. We look forward to working with him on the implementation of key policies. mattbenjaminforcouncil.com

Lauren Folkerts brings an architect’s eye and experience to Council. Her thorough command of the city’s development code and processes, in particular, have been instrumental in advancing the attainable housing and sustainable mobility goals we share with her. We anticipate that Lauren will continue to be a valued partner with Better Boulder as we make even more progress toward a more livable community for a wider diversity of residents. lauren4boulder.com

Nicole Speer brings a keen and extensive budget perspective, which is key in these economic times. Nicole also champions housing affordability, business vitality, and social justice issues, all of which Better Boulder recognizes as critical to a resilient community. We also admire Nicole’s commitment to ensuring all feel welcome to participate in community decision-making through more inclusive City outreach processes. nicoleforboulder.com

Mark Wallach never minces words, and we like that! We admire the scrutiny he gives to all decisions that come before City Council, even when his vote may not perfectly align with our agenda. We also value his willingness to listen and his pragmatism. We will need Mark’s keen eye for budget details, in particular, as our community navigates this challenging economic period. wallachforcouncil.com

These four incumbents have experience working together for Boulder. We strongly support their re-election to keep moving forward on the progress they have made towards our shared goals.

We thank all those who stepped up to run. We stand ready to work with you if you are elected. We urge those who are not to stay involved, apply for a board or commission, and run again in the future.
