The city is launching Boulder Junction Phase 2, a project guided by the Transit Village Area Plan (TVAP) and one of City Council’s priority projects. Phase 1 of the Boulder Junction area is nearing completion and city staff is looking toward implementation of Phase 2.

In 2007, the City of Boulder approved TVAP, an outline for the future for Boulder Junction, a 160-acre area within 30th Street, Pearl Street, Valmont Road and Foothills Parkway. The plan anticipated the development of new transit facilities and established a vision for the area to evolve into a lively, mixed-use, pedestrian-oriented place where people will live, work, shop and access regional transportation. The plan identified two phases of development: Phase 1 for the area west of the existing railroad tracks and Phase 2 for the area east of the tracks.

Since the adoption of TVAP, the city, RTD, developers and private property owners have worked together to implement the vision for Phase 1, including the creation of roads, plazas, affordable housing, a regional bus station, strategies to reduce car use and a mix of new homes, offices and retail spaces. Now, 15 years after TVAP was adopted, Phase 1 is almost complete, and we are moving into Phase 2.

Phase 2 is kicking off this winter, and will be engaging the community in a variety of ways to get feedback on land uses, transportation connections, urban design and character of the area and other ways to achieve the plan’s vision.

City staff is looking for future focus group members to provide their viewpoint, expertise and experience during Phase 2. Feedback from focus group members will be used to inform project progress and outcomes. If you are interested in participating, please complete and submit this form by Feb. 8.
