Embracing Change. Championing Sustainable Urbanism.
Some have argued that the way to achieve community goals is to oppose growth, and try to preserve Boulder as it once was. Better Boulder disagrees. We aim to shape our city’s future by updating policies and encouraging infill development and smart growth. Well-designed density and sustainable urbanism will ensure Boulder grows into a more inclusive, leading-edge city with a smaller environmental footprint and a more dynamic culture.
Better Boulder advocates for:
- A range of workforce and affordable housing choices
- Infill development
- Improved transit systems and bike infrastructure
- Environmental stewardship
- Walkable neighborhoods
- Inclusiveness
- Effective civic engagement
- Progressive and innovative elected officials
- Economic vitality and entrepreneurial innovation
Funding and Leadership:
As with other community groups, Better Boulder receives a mix of $15 membership fees and grants from non-profit organizations that support our community sustainability goals, but we are primarily driven through the voluntary efforts of our Steering Committee. The Steering Committee is made up of a mixture of environmentalists, transportation advocates, and members of the urban design and development community. All members of the committee are unpaid, and serve on a volunteer basis.
